Citation Guidelines (APA Style 2020)

  • In-text citation format: (Last Name, Year, x–y).
    Example: (Schimmel, 1995, 109–110).
  • Two authors/editors: (Last Name & Last Name, Year, x–y).
    Example: (Tuna & Juen, 2021, 9–11).
  • More than two authors/editors: Use first author’s name followed by “et al.”: (Last Name et al., Year, x–y). Example: (Sejdini et al., 2020, 15–31).
  • Separate multiple references with a semicolon.
    Example: (Meyer, 2020, 56; Sejdini, 2021, 78–79; Tuna, 2021, 19).
  • Multiple references by the same author: separate with commas.
    Example: (Bauer, 2018, 2019).
  • Subsequent citations should still include author information; do not use "ibid." or similar abbreviations.
  • Do not use "cf." for comparisons.
  • Always provide full page ranges in the format: x–y (not "f." or "ff.").
  • If the author is explicitly mentioned in the text, only include year and page numbers in the reference.
Example: Johannes Lähnemann emphasizes the increasing political influence of religions with both their conflict and reconciliation potential (2021, 18).
